This book is about getting down to what matters, and that is making an honest writer out of you. Does that mean I'm advocating myself as an honest soul? No, I'm evil remember! What I'm trying to do is show you that if your passion is writing and telling a damn good story then this will be the book for you.
I'll tell you about my experiences in the self-publishing world and how it takes a whole lot more than catchy covers and keywords to get your book to the best sellers. It also takes more than one book. It might take 10. It took seven for me and even then I wasn't' making millions and still aren't. But am I happy with my progress? Damn right. Am I paying bills? Yes Sir! Am I a millionaire? No, I am not! Does it matter? No! If you want to earn money as a writer, you need to write and be thankful for every book you sell. It's not a race and I'll show you why in this book.
Don't trust those evil so-called authors who promote misleading titles and game the system. It's all about the books and keeping those lovely people we call our listeners happy. Fail in that, and you can suck on a coconut!

I listened to the audio version.The book was honest, humorous and actually contained some good insights. I love that it wasn't "sales pitchy" like many other books on self-publishing. Luis wasn't offering and "5 quick steps" or gimmicky advice to make you think making money on kindle could happen in 5 seconds.
I really enjoyed Luis discussing his personal accounts, how he learned as he went and developed a strategy of tying to produce consistent work with increasing quality. Thoroughly enjoyed the perspective it gave me. Now I'll be publishing my first book on kindle next month! Good read.

I listened to the Audible audio version of this book.
This was an amazing and honest audiobook about what it takes to not only becoming an author but becoming a successful author. THE EVIL INDIE AUTHOR was engaging and LUIS SAMWAYS adds humor and reality while not mincing words. I love this book AND the author. Listening to his words were super inspiring for me because I enjoy writing. With that being said, I had no idea where to start and now I have an idea. WRITE! He covers everything. This audiobook will definitely be listened to again. I now feel motivated.
JAY PRICHARD does a fantastic job narrating. He's also very inspiring with his upbeat, positive cadence. He's a greatly skilled voice actor and he was THE perfect reader for this audiobook. I'm left feeling good and in my yet to be written book, that's a win/win. I'd definitely recommend this book for anyone but especially for aspiring authors.
